Discussing weight management and health on JTBC
A historical personal account of sharing weight-management and health experiences on JTBC.
This is a personal account of a broadcast appearance. Figures, book/contact information and permission to republish broadcast footage require review in their historical context.
I appeared as a storyteller on JTBC’s program whose Korean title translates as “The Great Choice.” Unlike an earlier panel role, I guided the narrative myself. It called for a more deliberate and serious approach, rather like presenting an investigative program.
As I shared my own experiences of weight management and knowledge gained as a physician, I hoped the broadcast would help viewers question misleading diet information.
The desire to lose weight quickly can coexist with anxiety about whether an approach is right. Having experienced uncertainty myself, I wanted to speak honestly and carefully.
To me, weight management is more than reducing a number. It also involves routines, habits and the broader organization of life—like reviewing a house’s foundations rather than only replacing wallpaper.
Leading the account alone initially felt daunting, but it helped me make my message clearer. Afterward, I hoped that a small personal experience might help someone consider a different choice.
My wish was to offer a little help in choosing a healthier, more confident life, rather than leave people struggling with poor information or unnecessary discomfort. Thank you to the producer and writers who taught and supported me.
This is a historical personal reflection on a broadcast appearance, not a guarantee of weight-loss outcomes.
